Held Saturday May 7, 2016— Thanks to the efforts of CJMP Volunteers and Programmers CJMP 90.1 FM’s People’s Prom Raised close to $700 in support of Powell River Community Radio!

This year around 100 Prom-goers set the Carlson Community Club to rocking thanks to the excellent music provided by CJMP DJ’s: PONE!PONI!PONY!, DJ RT, DJ BAD KAREN, THE CHAD, DJ TRIPLE DUB and KAMANDI.

Thanks also to Prom-goers who availed themselves of the by donation photo booth, made possible this year thanks to equipment lent by Infinity Multimedia.

Also a big round of applause goes out to this year’s Prom King and Queen, Trevor Refix and Carrie Swiggum— Long may you reign!

Other than being the prom of your dreams, People’s Prom is just one of the way CJMP celebrates is volunteers, programmers and members of the community who make it all possible- THANK YOU!

Community reporting for the radio – FREE Workshops Wed April 27 & May 4 @ 6-8PM

headphonesWhat’s happening in this community?! Inquiring minds want to know and if you want to find out how to tell them, please join us at our fun & informative workshops!!

This will be the first of three CJMP-hosted workshops held over the next year to train community journalists and volunteers the basics of reporting news for radio. You may attend one or both.

We’ll cover:
-What is news and how does it serve our community? (e.g. giving voice to the public)
-Practice writing a news story
-Basic legal and ethical guidelines

One week later on Wednesday May 4, there will be a workshop on the technical side of working in radio at the CJMP studio (4476C Marine Avenue)
-Using recorders and mics
-Basic audio editing
-How to use the soundboard

We are able to provide these workshops at no cost thanks to a community radio grant.

Join us on Wed April 27  @ 6-8PM at the Powell River Community Resource Centre (4752 Joyce Ave.  and the May 4th session will be at CJMP studio (4476C Marine Ave.)
