CJMP Powell River Community Radio is proud to help promote the Powell River Film Festival, an important community arts event here during the doldrums of winter (with spring just around the bend!). The festival runs from this Thursday Feb. 16th to the 19th. This year’s festival promises to be a great mix of documentaries and narrative cinema (including the Academy Award-nominated The Artist), three galas, short films, student workshops and locally-produced media! Find the Festival on Facebook.
We’ll be there at the festival tables for The Girls in the Band (starts at 6:30 on Friday the 17th, Evergreen theatre). Drop by and get (or renew) your membership to CJMP or just say “hi!”. Here’s a teaser:

CJMP is gearing up for a festive holiday season! The fun begins this weekend with the Santa Clause Parade. CJMP members are welcome to join in on the fun this Sunday, December 4th from 3-5 PM, on Marine Ave. You and your family/friends can be a part or the parade or sit back, relax, and cheer CJMP on from the crowd. To participate in the parade itself, join volunteers at 1:30 PM-ish at the station to get organized (we’re above the bowling alley on Westview). Aprile Dunlop and Les Schramm, owner operator of Cultural Calories Pedicab Company will be joining us and the pedicab will be our float! There is a stereo in it and Lucy Skye Diamond will be doing some special parade programming and Christmas on air give-aways.
If you would rather support us from the sidelines, wear your favourite CJMP shirt! Remember to be loud and proud supporting your favorite local radio station!
Come join in the holiday fun. The more, the MERRIER!
Later in December, CJMP and the Women’s PUNK Rock Choir will be doing some traditional door-to-door Christmas carolling with a bit of edge! Carollers are taking requests for your listening pleasure. If you have a friend/family member or you yourself would like to be serenaded X-Mas style by CJMP and the Women’s PUNK Rock Choir, please email email@example.com to sign up! We’ll be collecting donations for the Christmas Cheer Fund through this event. So, if you are able to, please plan to put a little something in the pot!
Stay tuned for photos and updates over the holidays…
