On Thursday, November 24th, The Powell River Community Radio Society (PRCRS, operating the non-profit CJMP 90.1fm Powell River Community Radio) held its Annual General Meeting at the Community Resource Centre (4752 Joyce Ave.) in Powell River, BC.
There were reports by the Treasurer Roger Thorn, Staff Members Mel Edgar, Carrie Swiggum, Giovanni Spezzacatena and Ioni Wais. Secretary David Parkinson and new in-coming board member David Joseph relayed Chair and Technical reports by Chair Jason Leane and director Don Mitchinson.

CJMP 90.1 FM Station Report 2016
Thanks to the receipt of a Radiometres from the Community Radio Fund of Canada (CRFC) CJMP was
able to hire a team of three staff (April 2016 to February 2017):
❏ Mel Edgar, Station Manager

❏ Giovanni Spezzacatena, Community Engagement Editor/Producer
CJMP was also able to hire Ioni Wais as Production Assistant Intern for the summer of 2016 through the CRFC’s Youth on Air Grant.
Achievements this year include:
➢ Through a mix of internal and external fundraising CJMP Staff have helped raise over $7,000, well over half of the $10,000 goal written into the grant.
■ Internal Fundraising: Reuse-a-Thon, Spring Fund Drive, November Sustaining Membership Drive, Powell River Arts, Culture and Heritage Grant, Car Wash with Powell River Fire Rescue, CJMP Photobooths (People’s Prom, Powell River Pride, Vale Society Halloween Ball)
■ External Fundraising: Cowbell Cares Fundraiser, Little Hut Curry Fundraiser, First Credit Union Theatre Under the Stars, Vinyl Flip

➢ Local News Coverage through CJMP News, News Bulletins and contracted audio documentaries: including Powell River Dreams, Tla’amin Language Circle, Garden Sharing Network, Powell River Youth Council Tapping the Groundswell Report, Kathaumixw, WildSafeBC, Powell River Food Security Report, Third Crossing Society, Tla’amin Nation Election Coverage

➢ Radio Happy Hour: A CJMP Open House where volunteers and new programmers are invited come in for training on the soundboard and in station policies
➢ Workshops: News 101, Mixing with Audacity, Elements of Documentary Story Production, upcoming workshop on Media Literacy / Elements of News Production
➢ Training Materials: use of studio call box in the studio, how to podcast, etc.

The Powell River Community Radio Society (PRCRS) on Thurs. Nov 26, 2015 held its Annual General Meeting. Having met quorum, members listened to many updates to the plan to increase CJMP’s broadcast range, and were presented with the financials. With 9 people interested in either continuing on the Board or joining it, there was a vote to increase the number of directors to 9 people.
Many thanks to the out-going directors for their tireless work! Stepping down from the Board were Don Mitchinson, Maggie Mondey, and Ari Neimand.
Volunteer of the Year was Don Mitchinson and Programmer of the Year Giovanni (Rabideye) of 1000 Tiny Magnets.
