Diversity Festival Needs YOU!

Well you couldn’t tell by the weather but the calendar says summer is upon us and the festival season has begun. You’ll see CJMP at most of the events around town this year (watch for the CJMP Mobile Disco!) including a very special festival that takes place on Texada Island.

This year’s Diversity Festival (July 8-10) at Shingle Beach on Texada Island is shaping up to be yet another great time on ‘The Rock’. Organized by volunteers, this truly locals’ party was created to support and keep the Shingle Beach provincial camp ground as a free camp ground throughout the year. This year CJMP is proud to be hosting the Jam stage: one of the three stages at the party. In the past this has been the stage where visiting artists and musician have an opportunity to play music with each other, and the crowd gets a unique opportunity to see their favourite artists spinning and jammin’ with all the other great artists attending the festival (click here for a look at who will be there). This stage always produces the unexpected and this year will be no different. Ever seen a DJ spin accompanied by electric guitars and a horn section? You will! Ever been blown away by a kids-only jam? You will. The stage is open to all comers. So bring your instrument of choice and stretch your musical mind. This is a great festival to be a part of – the location is unbeatable, the vibe is community and it’s for a great cause.

If you’d like to help out at the CJMP Jam Stage (don’t worry its not complicated – no engineering degree necessary) get a hold of us here at the station! You can drop us a line (604.485.0088 – message) or come by the studio during one of our live programs (listen up 90.1 fm or http://old.cjmp.ca/listen), email us, or drop a note in our mail slot (4476C Marine Ave, near the back entrance of the Westview Bowling Alley). See you at the beach!
