Celebrating 6 months of the new CJMP with a Sustaining Member Draw!
It’s hard to believe it’s been only 6 months since we kick-started this new phase of CJMP: Powell River Community Radio! On that sunny mid-October afternoon after the Powell River Community Radio Society make-or-break Annual General Meeting at Lifecycle Housing, a new board was elected, and a core team was forming around us, to save our community’s radio license and take on some very important steps to transform this station into something viable — for everyone. It’s been a lot of work, as so many of us know, with a lot of planning, thinking, and envisioning what we want to become. And from just scanning our Board and Working Group minutes on this site, you can get your own picture of how we’re trying to piece this puzzle of Community Radio, together. We like to think of this as building a solid foundation, with very active support from community members on our Working Teams and on the production side of things, with Spoken Word Director Nola Poirier being just the latest valuable addition. But there is even more going on…
We’re into second gear with the Sustain Us campaign, with volunteers calling out to members to help sustain CJMP with a small monthly donation; Staples Powell River has chipped in an incentive prize that will be given away to a sustaining member on June 10, 2011. Do you have a gift/prize you’d like to donate to the cause? Let us know!
Join us on Friday, April 29th at 5:30 at the Community Resource Centre for our 5th Public Gathering (please bring some finger food and non-alcoholic drinks, and we’ll make something of a party of it as well; child-minding will be provided). And bring along a couple of friends!
