Local Music Wanted

Are you a local BC musician? Great! We want your music. CJMP 90.1FM is a community radio station run by volunteers, and we want to fill our airwaves, and yours, with music that speaks to the local’s ear. Any genre of music is more than welcome. We take pride in the inordinate and the unusual.

We just want to hear your music on the air! If you want to submit your music physically, please mail your CD or record to 4476c Marine Avenue, Powell River, BC. If you’d like to submit your music digitally, either with a Bandcamp link, or with mp3 files, email musicdirector(at)cjmp.ca. We look forward to listening to your music and putting them on the air!

With love, CJMP.

Since Earth Day 2019 the news continues bleak: fires, floods, extinction, pandemic! It’s important to keep informed but at times the chatter is completely overwhelming. It’s time to pause. It’s time to reflect on what’s at stake. Multidisciplinary artists Brady Marks and Mark Timmings invite you to tune into the Earth by taking part in the annual Wetland Project Slow Radio Broadcast.

Connect to the 24-hour circadian rhythm of the endangered ṮEḴTEḴSEN marsh located in the traditional and unceded territories of the W̱SÁNEĆ First Nations (Saturna Island, British Columbia). The beautiful and complex environmental soundscape, featuring birds, frogs, airplanes and more, engages with you in real time throughout the day. The immersive quality of the slow radio broadcast promotes heightened awareness of the natural environment, which turns the simple act of listening to the radio into a powerful act of collective protest for climate action.
